Meal suggestions
Boiled prawns can be eaten straight up, on their own. Make it a meal by adding a dip, fresh green salad and bread.
Prawns are a fabulous protein addition to your favourite stir fry, pasta or tacos/burritos.
Prawns can be peeled (take tail off or leave on) and added to your dish for the final 1-2 minutes of cooking.
Garlic prawns
Marinate for 20 minutes:
1 pound thawed, peeled prawns
3 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of olive oil
generous grind of black pepper
Cook prawns:
Over high heat add 1.5 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter. When butter has melted add half the prawns (don’t crowd the pan). Cook for 2 minutes, rotating half way through. Remove first batch and cook remaining prawns.
With both batches of prawns in the pan add a good 1/4 cup of white wine. Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated.
Add to cooked prawns:
1 tablespoon of butter
1 lemon, squeezed
Cook for 30 seconds.
Serve prawns:
Sprinkle prawns with a good grind of pepper and parsley or other fresh herbs you prefer. Lemon wedges are lovely too! Fresh bread to enjoy the extra sauce is recommended.
Zesty BBQ prawn skewers
In a medium bowl combine
juice of 1 lime
1-2 tablespoons of thai sweet chili sauce
1 minced garlic clove
dash of sea salt
Add 1 pound of thawed, peeled prawns and stir. Place prawns onto skewers, BBQ for 2 minutes on each side.
